Warlock Leveling Guide – Review of Zygor’s Guide

Warning: These Warlock Leveling Secrets Are What the Gurus Don’t Want You To Know…

Hey there,

My name is Malys and I was exactly like you are right now…

…You see I was struggling to do well with leveling my warlock and it seemed like no matter what I did I just couldn’t reach level 80 as fast as everyone else did.

One day I got so pissed off I phoned my friend, who had probably the sickest WoW account I’ve ever seen, and started to ask him how he managed to do it.

And here’s what he showed me…

At first I thought he was crazy… idiot was showing me some sales page for a product. But as I started to actually read it I started to get a bit excited.

…The guy who made it was crazy… he had so many decked out level 80′s it totally blew my mind.

By the time I read through the whole sales page I was convinced to buy. I figured what the hell… with a 100% money back guarantee I might as well give it a try.

AND WITHIN JUST TWO DAYS I DINGED 80!

I wasn’t even in Outland when I started, too.

And over the coming weeks I became literally an expert at leveling. I started to have friends and guildmates whispering me and messaging me constantly.

One of them said, “Teach me whatever it is your doing!”

I will give you a little warning though. When you try Zygor’s leveling guide, and you start beating all your friends to 80, you will not want to give away the secrets – at least, not for free ;-) .

Imagine having your warlock at level 80 in 2 days, and knowing you can get as many characters to 80 super fast, any time you want.

That’s literally what you can do.

And I know that sounds like hype… I know…

But you NEED to check it out.

Cheers!

- Malys

P.S – Your friends and guildmates are already discovering these inside secrets… and you’re being left behind.

Warlock Leveling Guide – Warlock Leveling Build

OK, so now that you’ve picked the race of your Warlock and worked through your race’s starting area, the next stage of the Warlock leveling guide is choosing your talents.  Thankfully, choosing a warlock leveling build is pretty clear cut.

As far as leveling goes, Demonology doesn’t pack in enough damage until higher levels, and Destruction is too mana-intensive.  Without a doubt, Affliction is the best warlock leveling build.

Choosing talents as you go is fairly simple.  We’ll go in blocks of 10 points at a time.

10-19: Fill out Improved Corruption, Suppression, and Soul Siphon.  You get more damage, more reliably, and for less mana.  Plus the added boost to Drain Life from Soul Siphon really helps survivability.

20-29: The next choice talents to pick up are Fel Concentration, Improved Fear, Nightfall and Empowered Corruption.  Fel Concentration and Improved Fear both help a good bit with survivability, and Empowered Corruption makes Corruption your best scaling Damage over Time spell.  Nightfall works great as an optional fight-ender at the cost of a bit of extra mana when it procs.

30-39: Grim Reach, Siphon Life, Improved Life Tap, and Shadow Mastery take us to level 39.  You should be starting to feel like an unstoppable monster at this point.  Disgusting damage, great survivability, and a decent amount of longevity, which is about to get even better.

40-49: We’ll be picking up Dark Pact, Contagion, Malediction, and then dropping back a bit to grab Amplify Curse.  So now you’re an unstoppable killing machine with a tiny demonic mana battery.  Do you love being a Warlock yet?

50-59: Unstable Affliction, Pandemic, Death’s Embrace, and Everlasting Affliction are next on the menu, because you didn’t have enough damage already, right?  Blah blah blah hot knife through butter, you get the picture by now I’m sure.

60 onwards: Grab Haunt when you ding 60, and at that point, the world is your oyster.  You can finish filling out Affliction, go up Demonology for more survivability, or start into Destruction for a side of burst damage to compliment your entree of debilitating DoTs.

At this point, some people choose to respec Demonology for the Felguard and the sheer coolness factor of Metamorphosis.  Other people decide to switch it up and go Shadowmage-style with a Destruction build.  Feel free to experiment a bit and get a feel for what works best for you.

For me?  Well, after experimenting a bit, I realized I’m an Aff-lock through and through, and after filling out a few more talents in that tree, I went into Demonology to grab Soul Link for PVP purposes and that was that.  It’s my personal belief that Affliction is the best Warlock leveling build, and it is definitely my favorite Warlock talent build.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any feedback, and make sure to keep checking back for more of my Warlock leveling guide!

Warlock Leveling Guide – Choosing a Race

Generally, your first concern when beginning to level a Warlock will be choosing your race.  Naturally, that makes it the first subject we’ll be covering with this Warlock leveling guide.  On the whole, race doesn’t make a HUGE difference at the top end, as none of the racial choices are really game-breaking for Warlocks.  If you’re not the type to focus on the statistical intricacies, you’d be best off choosing whichever race you’d prefer to look at for 80 levels.  If you are more focused on making the archetypal “BEST WARLOCK EVAR” then here’s the rundown:

Alliance Warlock Races

Human: Their racials include a bonus to Reputation gains, the ability to get out of any and all movement impairing or disabling effects that shares a cooldown with the PVP trinket, and an increased bonus to stealth detection.  Human Warlocks are the strongest race against the Warlock’s anti-class, the Rogue, in PVP due to the stealth detection.  The trinket-type ability gives you a free slot for an offensive trinket, and the 10% bonus to rep gains means less time spent grinding dailies to get yourself decent gear at 80.

Verdict: Best Alliance choice for PVP, probably the best choice for a PVE player as well.

Gnome:  They get the ability to break snares and roots on a separate timer from the PVP trinket, increased Intelligence, and a bonus to Engineering.  Extra mobility is always nice, and the Int is definitely welcome, though it is better suited to Mages.  The Engineering bonus is helpful for about 15 minutes.  It saves you the cost of some copper bars.  Something else to consider is that Gnomes are small, and for people who still click in PVP, that means you’re tougher to target.

Verdict: Not terrible, but definitely not great.  Humans are better in pretty much every way, unless you really love Gnomes.

Horde Warlock Races

Orc: Orcs get a reduction to stun durations affecting them, an on-demand spell power burst, and 5% increased pet damage.  It’s kind of hard to picture a better set of racials for a Warlock.  Stuns are a Warlock’s biggest weakness in PVP, spell power is a Warlock’s favorite offensive stat, and pet damage helps out Demonology and Destruction Warlocks quite nicely.

Verdict: A great choice for PVE and PVP.  Quite possibly the best choice for a Warlock in general if you discount the fact that they look funny in robes…

Undead: Will of the Forsaken makes them the best Warlock for killing Shadow Priests and Warlocks.  Cannibalize is a great ability for leveling, it’s like having a bandage that scales with your health.  The innate Shadow resist bonus is pretty much useless.

Verdict: Not a terrible Warlock, but not great either.  Good if you hate Shadow Priests or hate bandages.  Plus, they look totally evil, which is awesome.

Blood Elf: Their racial ability to interrupt and silence casters covers the one gap in a Warlock’s PVP arsenal, which helps quite a bit.  The mana restored is kind of a pithy amount, and mana is not usually something Warlocks have trouble with anyway.  The bonus to Enchanting is about as useful as the Gnome Engineering bonus, and the general magic resistance is on par with the Undead Shadow resist.

Verdict: Probably a better choice for PVP than Undead, and equal for PVE.  Bested in both areas by the Orc.

Conclusion: If you are trying to decide which race is the best choice for a Warlock, the clear cut winner is the Orc.  Humans snatch second place handily.  If you’re not up for rolling an Orc or Human Warlock, your best bet is to go with whichever race appeals to you the most.  At the end of the day, all that matters is that you like your character.  Best of luck, and feel free to leave a comment if you have any other questions about racial choices for your Warlock.

Stay tuned for more Warlock leveling guide goodness!

Warlock Talent Builds – Destruction

OK, I know I probably came off as a LITTLE bit biased towards Affliction builds in my previous posts. Try to understand though, this is a Warlock leveling guide, not a Warlock stand at the back of the raid and throw shadowbolts guide. Affliction is the best warlock leveling build, so it gets most of my attention.

I do like Destruction builds, I really do. I love them when AV weekend rolls around and I get to spend my time exploiting line of sight issues and watching giant numbers pop up. Most of the time though, I kind of feel like a ghetto mage. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

Here’s the destruction talent build I use: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#IZrh0hoZVfhqrIuVsAcot

Any feedback would be great, as it doesn’t do too well outside of AV. I’ll leave this little non-leveling section of my Warlock leveling guide off with a video.

Warlock Affliction Leveling Video

If there was any doubt whatsoever about why I recommend leveling as Affliction, let this video clear it up.  This guy is grinding on 5 mobs at a time in Tanaris and getting 120K XP per hour.  Absolutely amazing.

Think you can do that as Demonology? What about Destruction? Nope. Affliction all the way baby.
